At March 16 sitting of the NA Standing Committee on Defense and Security, the RA Deputy Minister of Defense Arman Sargsyan presented a number of information related to the implementation of the next stage of strategic defense review, the education and preparedness, the defense of human rights in the army, the development of the social defense system and the policy of the defense sphere.

Sargsyan has underlined that intensive works are carried out with the strategic partner RF to urgently solve the existing problems and to increase the defense capacity of the army.

According to the rapporteur, the Ministry of Defense will spare no effort in order to have a more efficient army with a restraining role in the region.

Structural amendments are envisaged at the Ministry of Defense in the near future, as well as legislative amendments to the Laws on Defense and on the Military Service and the Serviceman’s Status.

Sargsyan has informed that there is the Human Rights and Integrity Building Centre in the Ministry of Defense. It is immediately reported to the leadership of the MoD and urgent solutions are given to the raised issues. Extensive works are carried out to protect the rights of wounded, mutilated, disabled servicemen and ensure social guarantees.

Sargsyan touched upon the problems emerged after the war, the military education, the steps to resist the war of hybrid propaganda, the external and internal challenges.

“Nation-State thinking should dominate in the army,” the RA Deputy Minister of Defense Arman Sargsyan concluded.
